Portland is called the Rose City because our moist, temperate climate is excellent for roses.  Working in the garden has been a source of enjoyment for me most of my life, and like many in our area I have a few rose bushes.  "Peace" is one of them.  The summer of 2000 I captured a bloom, misted with dewdrops, in early morning light .  What I like about this photo is the soft glow and range of muted colors.  The depth of field brings most of the rose into sharp view, making a feast for the eyes.
